Born in Schiedam, raised in Vlaardingen, and studied in Delft. After completing the study Avionics (aircraft and spacecraft electronics) I joined Holland Signaal to work on the development of cutting edge radar technology. In 1991 I moved to KPN Mobile, at that time a pioneer organisation of 90 people working on mobile communication, as a senior project manager. Early 1997, I changed jobs to be a programme manager at EnerTel, the first real competitor to KPN. End of 1998, I was one of four ex-EnerTel managers who founded a consultancy company Quar.Tel Consultancy from which I am still working. Besides that, I am the owner of Poolster Beheer BV, my private holding and investment company which has recently become active in a new project: renting out holiday accommodation in the popular ski resort Levi, in Finland.
